SHUN SUZUKI
Marketing Supervisor
In charge of Kanagawa Prefecture and Shizuoka teams as the marketing supervisor.
Joined the company in April 2013 in the marketing department as Marketing Executive (ME). Lead ME from April 2015 and has served in current position since September 2016.
(Q) Please tell us about your position as Marketing Executive (ME)
(A) We introduce the Hilton Grand Vacations “time-share program” to customers who arrive at Hilton hotels, airports, commercial facilities, events, etc., and we arouse their interests. At the same time, we schedule explanatory meetings held at a later date to discuss sales. I was appointed as the ME Kanagawa and Shizuoka team supervisor from September and have taken over those responsibilities.
(Q) Tell us about how you came about joining the company
(A) It was an introduction by a childhood friend. My friend started to feel alive after joining Hilton Grand Vacations and I was curious as to what kind of work my friend was involved in. I was hearing things about how quality of life improved and the positive aspects of the job, and I thought if my friend can engage actively in the job, I can also do the same thing. So I had my friend introduce me to the hiring manager.
(Q) What kinds of people are suitable for ME?
(A) Someone who is positive, likes to win, and someone who is stoic. Being knowledgeable, studious and talkative is put on the back burner. We start from greeting the customers and the work also requires some physical strength. The mental energy to maintain positivity for eight hours every day is something that is required. There is a focus on individual performance, but there is also a great emphasis on team work. If team members can create a good atmosphere at the work place, then it would ultimately lead to good work results.
(Q) Appeal of Hilton Grand Vacations
(A) My own experience going on vacations is beneficial to my work so I started to go on vacations that I would never have gone on before and I also accumulated miles. At my last job, the same salary was paid to those who didn’t produce any results and I was quite upset about that. However, as ME, my own efforts are reflected in the salary as an incentive and I find this to be very rewarding. Initially, I didn’t know anything about overseas and was nervous carrying the brand of “Hilton” on my shoulders. However, ever since I started to “work on my own terms,” I started to enjoy work every day. I think the company changes my values as well as my life. I think the time-share product offered by our company also changes the lives of customers and my own values were also changed by working at Hilton Grand Vacations. Enjoying time off is also not a problem and the company allows me to freely enjoy my time, and depending on the way you work you have the opportunity to greatly improve yourself.
(Q) Please tell us about your career vision going forward
(A) As supervisor, I would like to contribute such that the Kanagawa and Shizuoka teams can create a team work-centered environment in which work can be done in a cheerful and positive spirit. I would like everyone to be happy, do their work and spread this happiness to the customers. I think the field of view has opened up. When an environment changes, I think one’s way of thinking and values also change, so if there are attractive positions in the future I would like to challenge myself more and more in such positions.
